HOSPITALS
Sessily Watt has consulted with hospital systems in providing advisory services in relation to compliance program development, evaluation, training, and policy and procedure development and implementation. In the course of providing advisory services, Ms. Watt regularly meets with clients on-site, to provide updates and discuss compliance issues of import to the client. She has also prepared materials for Compliance Committee and Board of Director meetings, including quarterly board reports and compliance assessments. Annual and quarterly reviews of compliance programs prepared for Compliance Committees and Boards address such topics as overall compliance, training and education, policy and procedure development, hotline operation and lines of communication, and coordination between the compliance office and Human Resources. Ms. Watt also conducts specific research for both hospitals and physician groups on claims development and submission issues. When necessary, Ms. Watt has communicated directly with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to clarify the information contained in regulations and guidance.
Ms. Watt has also provided advisory services on risk management and assessment, including on the implementation of compliance risk management software. Specific areas addressed in regard to hospitals and content development for risk management software include: anti-kickback/stark, claims development and submission, clinical research, corporate governance & compliance, cost reports, EMTALA, and quality.
Additional activities include: conducting reviews of Office of Inspector General advisory opinions and preparing summaries for release to clients, assisting in the development and preparation of proposals for clients, and providing monitoring activities as part of an Independent Review Organization contract.
