PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ms. Narain researches and analyzes regulatory and industry information to maintain up-to-date awareness of federal and state regulatory and policy initiatives in the health care industry. She conducts policy and regulatory research and analysis in a variety of health care related areas, including Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations, billing and coding requirements in various states, HIPAA, and corporate compliance. To assist health care organizations be compliant and consistent with current federal and state regulatory standards, Ms. Narain has worked with organizational senior management to conduct compliance program evaluations and compliance program development and implementation activities, such as developing, reviewing, and updating corporate policies and procedures, developing and assessing training programs, and remediating high risk areas. Furthermore, she has done extensive research on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) and the implications of the RAC audits on hospitals and other providers. She is the main author of the 2009 Recovery Audit Contractor Workbook, which offers providers an effective and pragmatic approach to responding to the RACs.


PREVIOUS WORK

Prior to joining Strategic Management, Ms. Narain worked as a Consultant to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. (Kaiser Permanente), a health maintenance organization. As a consultant for Kaiser Permanente, Ms. Narain provided training and development services to new employees of the Proposal Management Team (PMT). In addition, she supported the completion of client-specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFI), as well as provided expertise and guidance to Kaiser Permanente management pertaining to the proposal management process.
